Atelier Workshop Opportunities

ICA hosts workshops and seminars led by professional artists, academics, writers, musicians, and chefs.  We provide accommodations, meals, studio or other workspace, and transportation as well as assistance in developing an itinerary that fulfills the objectives of your group.

Program Leaders

We welcome artists, writers, humanities scholars and professionals in the culinary arts to sponsor groups of like minded individuals looking to experience Italy and expand horizons within their fields. Atelier programs typically range from one to three weeks, and the duration of your session would be up to the needs of the group. In terms of timing of your session, we typically have space available for Atelier workshops from April until December.
Accommodations are primarily in our main building, called Asilo (meaning “refuge”). It accommodates our cooking and dining facilities, library, dining terrace, and mostly private rooms for up to 18 people. Additionally, we have overflow spaces around the village accommodating larger groups of guests. In this building, we have professional kitchen facilities for cooking classes in addition to a fine wine-cellar for tastings and selections that accompany meals. In the lower level of Asilo, we have an excellent art supply store as well as our ceramics/sculpture facility. Next door, in a 14th c. palazzo called “Persianni,” we have our printmaking facility, gallery, and private/semi-private studio spaces for about 20 artists. Both our studios and ceramics facility are spacious and have good light and ventilation. We also have practice spaces for musicians and singers as well as private work spaces for writers and scholars.

The possibilities are endless

Since our inception and years of experience in building tours and workshops in Monte Castello and throughout Italy, we have put together some of the most unique and inspiring programs offered in the region. So whether it’s a tourist destination, artistic wonder or hidden local treasure that you’re after during your stay—we can accommodate your requests and have plenty of suggestions to offer.

Ammenities & Services

Our services are all-inclusive, and we serve three, gourmet meals per day with excellent local wines at lunch and dinner. Our chef, Katia Costanzi, provides a diverse range of traditional fare made from local produce, meats, fresh fish, and wild game. The woods that surround Monte Castello are rich in mushrooms and truffles and the fresh fruit and local olive oils are outstanding.

With a minimum of six paying participants enrolled in the program, we include the mentioned amenities at no cost, providing spacious and comfortable apartments, most with breathtaking views of the mountains and the Tiber valley. The studios we provide for leaders are likewise spacious, quiet, well-lit and ventilated. Our facilities are completely family friendly and for faculty traveling with children it is really an ideal place. Spouses and partners traveling with group leaders too, find plenty to occupy them in Monte Castello, with studio space available to those that are artists, as well as cooking classes, wine tours, dance and yoga classes, and a host of other activities.
